Where we are working
BIOSSCI involves three partner countries – they are Bangladesh, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
In Bangladesh, we are working in the aquaculture sector. Here, biosecurity needs to work with existing farming practices and livelihoods as well as identifying collective approaches to improving animal health and security.
In South Africa, we are focusing on the need to deal with infection pressures as well as a historically divided agricultural system. Biosocial security will require attention to making animal health accessible with a focus on just transitions to more sustainable futures.
In the UK, our focus will be on avian influenza and poultry production. We will work with industry and government partners to identify key challenges and evaluate possible solutions to a constant disease threat.
