Dr Moreno-Mateos said: "This is an incredible opportunity to join an outstanding multidisciplinary school. I feel that at SoGE my research, which builds on scientific fields that range from ecology to archeology or biogeochemistry, would quickly grow and strengthen the unique potential of the School to tackle the most concerning global challenges that the planet is facing."

Head of School, Professor Giles Wiggs said: "I am thrilled to welcome David to the School. He will join a dynamic and successful academic community and enhance our world-class teaching and research in ecology and biogeography. His innovative work on ecosystem recovery integrates with a host of research currently being carried out across the breadth of the School and University and I am very excited to see the results of these collaborations in the years to come."
