Natalie Sum Yue Chung, MPhil student in Environmental Change and Management, is included in Eco-Business's 2020 inaugural list of emerging youth sustainability changemakers.

Natalie is a passionate youth climate advocate committed to environmental education and policy advisory in Asia through her organisation, V'air Hong Kong. As co-founder and director of V'air, she educates youths by conducting ecotours, talks, workshops, publications and consulting.

Natalie said:

"2020 is a challenging year with COVID-19 and the perpetuating climate crisis. As the UN Secretary-General António Guterres spoke at the UN Conference of Youth for Climate Change, we must deliver a message of hope over despair. This year reminds us the paramount importance of resilience and sustainability.

"I am deeply honoured and humbled to be part of the inaugural Eco-Business Youth A-List 2020, thank you Esther An and Edmond Leung for their kind nominations. I would like to dedicate this honour to my team of passionate youth advocates at V'air, family and friends who have supported me along my environmental journey.

"Thank you to the ECI and ECM programme for providing me the platform to step up my knowledge on environmental management and education! The Oxford journey has been the cornerstone to consolidate my work in climate advocacy and sustainability education.

"Youth is the agent of change and driving force for our sustainable future. I believe environmental education is at the core of transforming mindsets and shifting paradigms to enlighten the community and empower climate action.

"In the coming year, I look forward to working with youth counterparts in pushing forward the sustainable tourism agenda across Asia, and to leverage on my Oxford energy decarbonisation research to connect scholars from the west with the east, tracking the progress of carbon neutrality commitments announced by China and Hong Kong.

"Always remember the path to extraordinary is open to anyone at anytime. Dare to dream and we can start making an impact for the future we want."
