Heritage Innovations Lab Oxford (HILO) begins new collaboration to support the heritage sector
Heritage Innovations Lab Oxford (HILO), led by and including SoGE researchers, is undertaking a new partnership with the Heritage Alliance, supported by an award from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Dr. Katrin Wilhelm (Researcher and Departmental Lecturer, SoGE) said:
"We are thrilled to announce this partnership between HILO and the Heritage Alliance, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Together, we will build new collaborative networks connecting academic researchers with heritage sector professionals. This partnership will pioneer innovative partnership models while strengthening the use of evidence-based research across the heritage sector."
Over 18 months, the 'Creating Connections' project will support greater collaboration within the heritage sector, and address challenges facing heritage organisations across England.
In partnership between HILO and the Heritage Alliance, the "Fostering Connections" strand of the project will be an innovative academic matchmaking pilot organised between heritage organisations and university teams, capturing case studies and fostering new relationships.
Regional events, in collaboration with Heritage Open Days, will also provide training and networking opportunities for organisations outside London; and interest groups and role-specific peer networks will be created to support connection and learning and regional advocacy.

Heritage Innovations Laboratory Oxford (HILO) is an initiative involving an interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners based at the University of Oxford, funded primarily by the University's Strategic Innovation Fund with additional funding from the Blenheim Estate. Its mission is to explore and trial new ways of working to enable University researchers to co-develop innovative solutions with partners across the heritage sector.
