SoGE community supports International Women's Day
The School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE) community has today (8 March) come together to mark International Women's Day.
Individuals from across the department have demonstrated their support for this year's #BreakTheBias campaign by striking the break the bias pose and commenting on why it is vital we tackle gender bias.
"Women are solutions to the climate crisis if we can harness their potentials as natural stewards of our planet. Inexpensive investments into solar cookers can save women's time in gathering firewood, improve their health and cut emissions, kickstarting positive feedback loops to empower women for climate action."
- Natalie Chung, Co-Founder of V'air Hong Kong, SoGE Alumna 2021.

Prof. Gillian Rose, Head of the School said:
"I'm very pleased that many members of the School have shown their support for this important campaign for International Women's Day. Here at SoGE, we are committed to striving for a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, from what we teach to what and how we research. Participating in IWD is just one part of that wide range of work."
Last year, the School was awarded Athena Swan Silver in recognition of the department's commitment to advancing gender equality.
