Alex Vasudevan becomes Professor of Urban Geography

Professor Alex Vasudevan

Alex Vasudevan has been awarded the title of Professor of Urban Geography, by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to his field of research, teaching and academic service.

Prof. Vasudevan is an urban geographer whose research focuses on new ways of thinking about and inhabiting cities. His current research explores the connections between housing justice movements, spatial politics and precarious urban living. Alex teaches on the School's BA in Geography and MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance.

Commenting on his professorship, Alex said: “I am delighted and honoured to be awarded the title of Professor of Urban Geography. This is a collective achievement, and I am grateful to friends, family, colleagues and collaborators. I look forward to continuing my work on housing and spatial justice while developing new projects on the geography of protest and social transformation.”

SoGE Head of School and Professor of Aeolian Geomorphology, Giles Wiggs, said: "I am delighted for Alex on the award of this title.
