Academic Profile

Alexandra is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Agent-Based Modeling within the Complex Human-Environmental Systems Simulation Laboratory (CoHESyS). At CoHESyS, Alexandra serves as a programmer for the international POSEIDON project. As an Atlantic Ocean ecologist and programmer, she brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the team.

After graduating from her Bachelor of Science in Marine Science at University of South Carolina, Alexandra completed her Master of Professional Science in Fisheries Management and Conservation at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Sciences. She studied at The University of Miami for her Doctor of Philosophy in Marine Ecosystems and Society, where she constructed an Agent-Based Model of Tropical Tuna in the Atlantic Ocean. Using systematic reviews, remote sensing, and modeling, she explored the relationship between tropical tuna behaviors, sea surface temperature, and Fish Aggregation Devices.
