Academic Profile
Clive is a DPhil student at the Transport Studies Unit. Prior to arrival in Oxford, he worked for several years in Shanghai as a consultant, history instructor, and musician. He holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, during which he studied abroad for a year at Peking University; following that, earned an MA in International Studies at the Johns Hopkins-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies.
Current Research
Clive's current research traces the development of the Chinese automobility dispositif, with particular interest in the production of road space and subjectification of road users.
