Machine Learning for Predicting and Estimating Post-Disaster Infrastructure Resilience: Integrating Satellite and Crowdsourced Data

Academic Profile

Shradha Birdika is a DPhil researcher at the University of Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment, affiliated with the Oxford Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (OPSIS) at the Environmental Change Institute.

Her research lies at the intersection of climate resilience, critical infrastructure systems, geospatial analysis, and artificial intelligence. She is particularly interested in understanding how infrastructure networks respond to natural hazards and how emerging computational approaches can support more effective disaster risk management and post-disaster recovery.

Her doctoral research integrates machine learning, satellite imagery, and crowdsourced geospatial data to assess infrastructure damage, investigate cascading failures across interconnected networks, and model post-disaster recovery trajectories. She aims to develop data-driven approaches to inform recovery prioritisation and strengthen infrastructure resilience, particularly in vulnerable and data-constrained regions.
