Institutional Investor Stewardship in Secondary Markets: Is Real-World Climate Impact Possible?

Academic Profile

Jamie is a DPhil candidate at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group in the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE). His research focuses on large institutional investors and their ability to create real-world, positive climate impact through capital allocation and stewardship, with a particular focus on listed markets. His current projects include an examination of investor stewardship in the sovereign debt asset class, a conceptual modelling of how investor stewardship leads to real world climate outcomes, and developing new approaches for strategic asset allocation that incorporate impact generation. Jamie is also a research assistant for the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, working on the IKEA Foundation-funded Future of Engagement program, and other projects related to sustainability-linked financial instruments and transition finance.

Previously, Jamie worked as a portfolio analyst at Brunel Pension Partnership, where he helped manage Global High Alpha, Global Small Cap, and UK Corporate Debt portfolios. He holds an MSc in Financial Analysis and Fund Management from the University of Exeter where his dissertation quantitively examined the factors driving ESG-mandated portfolio performance throughout business cycles. He also holds a BSc in Economics from the University of East Anglia, and has completed the CFA examinations.
