Supervisor: Professor Patricia Daley

Zambian women’s movements and the body as a strategy and tool for feminist emancipation.

Academic Profile

Chishimba’s research examines the biographies of three Zambian women - Alice Lenshina, Julia Chikamoneka, and Sara Longwe - to explore how women have used their bodies as instruments of resistance to patriarchy across different historical and social contexts. Her work seeks to uncover how individual women's biographies can illuminate broader patterns of feminist resistance in Zambia.

Her academic interests span the social sciences, media studies, and the humanities. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Science of the Internet from the Oxford Internet Institute, a Master’s in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University in South Africa, and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from the University of Zambia.
