Dr Fiona Febrache presenting on British-French futures in Périgueux

Further to the 'Britons beyond Brexit' meeting which took place in Spain in April, Dr Fiona Ferbrache organised, introduced and presented on the future of EU citizenship at the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Périgueux, France, Friday 2nd June.

The British Ambassador to France, Lord Llewellyn, made a speech in the morning, and addressed questions from the mainly British audience on current relations between UK, France and the EU. In the afternoon, Fiona welcomed the audience of Britons resident in France, British-French consular representatives, French delegates and academics from both sides of the Channel, to share research findings and provide a forum for discussion for those with an interest in the future of Britons in France.

Other presenters included Fiona's research colleague Professor Jeremy MacClancy (Anthropologist at Oxford Brookes), representatives from French-based political and campaign groups including Liberal Democrats in France, Fair Deal for Expats, Remain in France Together, and Expat Citizen Rights in EU. This meeting was part of Fiona and Jeremy's ESRC funded project examining Britons' experiences, futures and citizenship in the context of Brexit.
