Prof Yadvinder Malhi

We are delighted to announce that Professor Yadvinder Malhi has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.

The Fellowship of the Royal Society is made up of the most eminent scientists, engineers and technologists from, or living and working in, the UK and the Commonwealth. Past Fellows and Foreign Members have included Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Prof Heather Viles, Head of School, said, "To my knowledge, Yadvinder is the first member of the School of Geography and the Environment past or present to be elected Fellow of the Royal Society. Yadvinder's originality of vision and intelligence, his success in nurturing an amazing team in the Environmental Change Institute / School of Geography and the Environment and his dedication to promoting the science and conservation of forests through collaboration and capacity building in tropical countries are all exceptional."

Yadvinder Malhi is Professor of Ecosystem Science at the School of Geography and the Environment and Programme Leader in Ecosystems at the Environmental Change Institute. He is a Jackson Senior Research Fellow at Oriel College.
