Professor Heather Viles recently attended the First Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang, China and signed a collaborative agreement with the Director of the Dunhuang Academy, Professor Wang Xudong. The agreement launches a joint research project between the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford, and the Dunhuang Academy on the deterioration and conservation of earthen ruins on the Silk Road in NW China (partly funded by a 2 year International Exchange Grant from the Royal Society of London).
