Over 80 colleagues, former students, family and friends gathered in the Halford Mackinder lecture theatre on 27th of November to celebrate 42 years of Andrew Goudie's scientific and scholarly life in Oxford. Several different aspects of Andrew's contribution to geomorphology and geography were encapsulated in talks given by Ron Cooke, Mike Summerfield, Heather Viles, Adrian Parker, Piotr Migon and Denys Brunsden.
The main themes to emerge were of a prolific and creative scientist, good at spotting unsolved problems, generous with his time and ideas, and a stimulating teacher. His commitments to advancing geography and geomorphology within Oxford, the UK and the international scene were also celebrated. We wish him a long and productive retirement!
