Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 result
The School of Geography and the Environment has been ranked joint top Geography department (along with Bristol, Durham and Cambridge) in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
The School research was assessed as being 30% 4* (world leading), 40% 3* (internationally excellent), 25% 2* (internationally recognised) and 5% (nationally recognised) with 28.50 FTE Category A staff submitted.
The University of Oxford as a whole was judged to have the largest submission of world-leading or internationally excellent academics (4* or 3* rated) in the UK.
