The interplay between theory and practice which is at the core of this programme will equip you with the ability to address current issues in environmental politics, science and policy in innovative and effective ways. Our alumni have embarked on a wide range of careers in industry, policy think tanks, international agencies, NGOs, activist groups and social enterprise. Entry to this programme offers opportunities to extend and build your professional and research networks through being part of a vibrant and international student body, engaging with leading academic thinkers and meeting a range of policy makers, theoreticians and practitioners. Events such as the Oxford Environment and Development Innovation Forum and policy dialogue seminars provide unique opportunities scope future career trajectories.
Who should apply?
Candidates from a range of academic backgrounds are accepted, including:
- Human Geography
- Politics, Sociology and Anthropology
- Economics
- Natural / Environmental Sciences
- Law and the Humanities
Selection criteria are twofold:
- a track record of academic excellence, and
- a demonstrated interest in the interactions of society and nature and ways that policy instruments can mediate this relationship and achieve the goal of environmental and social sustainability.
