9th annual Oxford Environment and Enterprise Forum

The aim of the 9th annual Oxford Environment and Enterprise Forum is to strengthen links between the international graduate student body of the School of Geography and the Environment and Oxford-based organisations at the cutting edge of environmental policy and practice.

The afternoon will profile the innovative work going on in Oxford and will provide an opportunity for students and presenters to meet and discuss current policy initiatives, ideas for dissertation research and in association with Oxford-based groups.

ProForest

ProForest is a not-for-profit group that works with governments, producers and other private sector partners. They help people and organisations to manage and source natural resources sustainably. The Profesrest team is made up of experts in the responsible production and sourcing of palm oil, soy, sugar, beef, timber and other agricultural and forest commodities.

Earthwatch

Earthwatch is an International NGO which focusses on scientific research and education about environmental issues. Earthwatch specialise in engaging the public in various forms of Citizen Science. This ranges from placing people on dedicated two week long expeditions around the globe, to web-based projects that the general public can undertake in their own back-garden.

Global Canopy Programme

Ethex is a not for profit organisation based in Oxford UK with the aim of creating a marketplace for positive investments. Ethex makes positive investing easy to understand and do by providing a direct and personal way for individuals to invest in businesses they believe in.

Oxford Hub

The Oxford Hub is a student run charity which aims to empower students to take social and environmental action in their local communities and further afield. It was set up in 2007 by a bunch of students with the vision to make their time at university more fruitful.Since then, the Oxford Hub has grown to support 600 student volunteers in the local area, working in (at last count) 47 projects. All the projects were set up by students, and are student-ed. We partner with local community groups, organisations and charities including schools, homeless charities, care homes and a community garden. This ensures enthusiastic and engaged students benefit from the knowledge of the local landscape and social and environmental issues these groups have.The hub supports student-run conferences including Oxford Climate Forum and Oxford Forum or International Development, which attract over 900 students, academics and professionals to hear leaders in the field discuss issues surrounding the relevant topic. Alongside these yearly conferences, the student executive runs inspiring weekly series events covering everything from ocial enterprise to education, rights and development to social policy.To help student-run activities be as effective and long-lasting as possible, Oxford Hub runs training for students to develop their skills, social impact internships and social leadership awards to recognise the fantastic work they do.

Oxford University Consulting
